This database has been taken from the transcript of the registers made by Wm. Fergusson Irvine in 1900. Prior to 1762 the information comes from the Bishop's transcripts.
The records are not complete, particularly before 1762 where entire years are missing. To carry out a search, enter as much information as possible (a Surname must be entered). Remember that the transcript was made from old records and that the spelling of names may not be as you expect.
Note that prior to 1752, the year changed over on the 25th March (Lady day), 1752 was the first year that January 1st was the first day of the years. This database uses the dates as recorded in the register. This can lead to confusion, for example:
If a couple were married on 26th March in 1750, they could quite easily have a baptism for their first child on March 24th 1750, which is a year later (1751 starts on 25th March)
